Job Overview:

The successful incumbent will be responsible for purchasing materials, equipment and supplies in accordance with Company Purchasing Policy and Procedures. The incumbent will review and analyze purchase requisitions, investigate and develop sources of supplies; issue competitive RFx requests review quotations, interpret purchasing procedures to departments and vendors, act as a liaison between user departments and vendors. As well as support the department head in all aspects related to Supply Chain Management.  

 Position Responsibilities

  • Procurement of goods including identification, review, selection, recommendation and award to suppliers including PO closeouts
  • Develop and execute RFx packages
  • Analyze purchase requisitions to ensure clarity and completeness proper support documentation
  • Conduct negotiations for the acquisition of goods, negotiate cost-effective solutions, mitigate risks, prepare, evaluate and negotiate contract terms, conditions and pricing within a short turn around
  • Assist other departments in the development of business cases and submissions for purchases and approvals
  • Ensure timely and accurate reporting
  • Participate in the implementation of systems to integrate and optimize business performance and practices
  • Coordinate all deliveries with the warehouse and or field locations
  • Expedite and track orders and coordinate with the logistics team when required
  • Work with team members to identify opportunities to merge/consolidate vendors, enhance terms and conditions, as well as, enhance consistency/standardization to sustain value for the stakeholders
  • Support team members with recommendations for improvements
  • Act as the primary liaison between key internal stakeholders, vendors, suppliers and service providers
  • Maintain all procurement related information

Skills and Qualifications:

  • Post-secondary education in Commerce, Finance, or Purchasing with a satisfactory business component and /or certification from Supply Chain Management Association of Canada (SCMA) or equivalent experience
  • Minimum 5 years in a procurement or purchasing role
  • Experience in supplier analysis, analyzing proposals including financial and non-financial criterial, ability to support teams in negotiations and award recommendations is required
  • Experience in legal terms and conditions
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office applications and procurement software
  • Experience with computerized inventory systems and procurement software is preferred
  • Strong interpersonal skills
  • Strong written and verbal communication
